CHARITIES
It´s been an honour for me to assist various charities in 2007 completing bike rides, attending golf day´s and helping to raise awareness of causes in various ways. If I can I will always help...
In 2007 I was privileged to be asked to support HRH Princess Alexandra at St James Palace to give out PDSA bravery awards to armed forces dogs to recognize their part in the tragic 2005 London bomb blasts along with supporting the President of Ireland at Dublin Castle, were I was reunited with Big Brother´s Anna Nolan to present live on RTE1 at the 02 Ability Awards.
I took Raffiki my bull mastiff dog to Abbey Road for a photo shoot with top photographer Jason Fraser to feature in the 2008 PDSA Pet Pawtrait´s calendar in the charities 90th year and am pleased to see calendar sales are going well. We also attended the launch of the calendar in London and I look forward to visiting the new PDSA hospital here in Liverpool (were animals have been treated since 1927) soon.
One charity that meant a lot to me held and event recently in Liverpool. Myself, my team, friends and family attended a charity dinner in support of the Rhys Jones Memorial Fund to raise funds for a new sports centre in Liverpool to help keep more children off the streets and safe during evenings.
2007´s charity activities wrapped up with a big challenge - I took part in a charity shark dive - yes I got in with Europe´s largest collection of sharks (10 in all) at a North West aquarium on behalf of the Anthony Nolan Trust. Youngsters Ella and Sam Wright from Southport who both need bone marrow transplants watched on. I hope donors can be found for my new friends and would encourage all young males between 18 and 40 to consider joining the charities Bone Marrow register.
I also launched the Hampshire Police Drink Drive Campaign for 2007 and recorded a video message for Cheshire Police as part of the ongoing Drive Survive campaign activities I was also delighted earlier in 2007 to be asked to be an ambassador for Brake the road safety charity and look forward to continuing to spread the message of safe driving in 2008.
