Charities Summary and Links
Craig supports numerous charities and is certainly a man of action in supporting them he has; abseiled one of London’s tallest buildings, abseiled the 335ft high St John’s Beacon tower above Liverpool City Centre, completed the London marathon, zip lined 600 feet across an open quarry, took part in a 12,000 ft skydive jumps, wing walked at 2000ft and even dived with Europe’s largest collection of sharks and stingrays!
Craig is a patron of the Downs Syndrome Association and road safety charity Brake. He is one of the Lord Mayor of Liverpool’s chosen charity ambassadors (alongside football’s Kenny Dalgliesh and musician Gerry Marsden) assisting at events throughout Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture 2008.
He has also participated in numerous sports events; marathon’s and distance running, captaining teams at charity golf events, cycle tours, he has played football and tennis for charity at major UK championship venues including Liverpool F.C, Birmingham City F.C and Wimbledon.
To date he has raised over £500,000 for charities and charitable causes.

Down’s Syndrome Association

- Raising £250,000 (£70,000 via winning Big Brother) and setting up a trust fund for his friend,Downs Syndrome sufferer Joanne Harris, to enable her family to afford a heart and lung transplant operation in the USA.

The Anthony Nolan Trust

- Attended Crufts with his dog, PDSA staff and Craig’s dog gave demonstrations of bandaging/first aid.

- Supported HRH Princess Alexandra at St James Palace in 2007 to award Metropolitan Police and British Transport explosives search dogs medals for services in the wake of London 2005 bombings.

The Marina Dalglish Appeal

Although The NHS supports the running costs of the laboratory, funding for research projects, equipment and salaries for staff carrying out research have to be found through other avenues.
In 1998 the Merseybeat Appeal was set up as a registered charity for the hospital (charity number 1052813). The Appeal has the specific purpose of raising funds to support the research programmes within CTC.
